About the game
On Q is a 'talking game' designed to bring people together through the sharing of experiences, ideas and perspectives on all aspects of life.
It helps to build awareness and understanding between people from different backgrounds, organisations, departments, generations and cultures - but, mainly, it's fun to play and always leaves players with eye-opening insights into their own - each other's - lives.
The On Q booklet gives ten different ways to play with as few as 2 people (for example, we know On Q is used to start one-to-one conversations in TEFL schools and classrooms) and as many as 16 (we've seen On Q played by two teams of up to 8 people at a training workshop). We also know one manager who starts after-lunch meetings with it, another who puts questions online for her project team - who are in several different countries - and we know lots of families who played it over Christmas.
It has been used as a team building tool, a conversation starter, a delightful way to connect with extended family and friends, a bridge between generations, a classic 'dinner party game', an opening event for a weekend workshop...
Some of the ways to play are competitive and some co-operative - and we are already being sent suggestions for other variations - so you'll probably find your own preferred way for different situations.

How it works
On Q has 70 carefully selected prompt cards (Qcards), each of which asks a question - which will be answered by one person, a team or everyone in turn, depending on the rules you choose to play. Some Qcards ask for snapshots of our past, others ask for our thoughts about our lives today and some for our hopes and fears for the future.

Consultants, Facilitators, Team Leaders, Trainers
Work Teams, whether it's teambuilding with a new group or facilitating an established one, are one place where On Q works particularly well. The game offers an unusual and fascinating way of building links between people from different social, cultural and racial backgrounds, as well as people of different ages.
From the feedback we've received, we know that facilitators and team leaders like the structure and formality that On Q offers (it's quite different from just asking people questions) and are surprised by the openness, sharing and trust that its story-telling format allows.
We've taken over a year to develop On Q - trying it out in different situations, testing and refining the questions and trying out new rules (which is why there are 10 sets of rules in the On Q booklet).
